Downtown Dallas – “The people are bold, brash, brazen, and hell bent on having a good-time!” – Thomas Edwin
Do you crave a deluxe high-rise; fancy flat; or a luxurious loft? Downtown Dallas is for you! I think the cosmopolitan in each of us craves the bright city lights, fashionable cafe, and exclusive shopping of the city center. With so much history, eventually everyone wants to call the concrete jungle home. Better bring the wallet, and stock statements. Inventory is always low, demand is high, and rental rates are as high as pinnacle of the Mercantile Bank tower clock.
There is a certain laid back, easy-breezy, laissez faire about the city core. No need for a car as it’s walkable with DART, and the Trolley line servicing the pedestrians. Watch out for the tourists…this is a mecca for visitors still trying to find out, “Who shot J.R.?” Does anyone remember? Downtown has one of the worlds most easily recognizable skylines.
How to play? Nearby Klyde Warren Park is a welcome outdoor space and, as expected, shopping, attractions and restaurants abound. The AT&T Performing Arts Center and Meyerson Symphony Center are nearby, as are several world-class museums to chose from. Ready for farm to table dining options? The Dallas Farmer’s Market offers fresh artisan choices for the foodie, or green god/goddess in us all!
What to do? Here are some of my favorites:
- Shopping: Neiman Marcus flagship store, Forty Five Ten
- Food & Drink: CBD Provisions; Wolfgang Puck; The Zodiac; and Lark On The Park
- Art and Culture: Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center; Crow Collection
- Attractions: Perot Museum; Dallas World Aquarium; Sixth Floor Museum.
- Parks: Klyde Warren Park
